Plastic waste

Post consumer urban plastic waste is basically composed by:

A.high value & easy to recover/recycle plastic (PET bottles, HDPE bottles, large PP or PE objects)

B.PE and PP foils and films

C.Inert and other plastics (normally PET, PVC...)

Stream A is the first to be recovered: it is well accepted, remunerative and crowded.

Stream B is separated from C since it could be used as energy source for furnaces (cement or glass plants) but it does not have acceptable technical properties to be used as «normal» plastic.

Otherwise it is used as a filler in normal plastic or sent to landfill -> Downgrading or segregation.
